Building Envelope

Every part of the exterior, working as one system.

Water doesn't care which trade installed which part. A perfect siding job still leaks if the gutters dump behind the fascia or the deck ledger was never flashed. We look at the whole envelope — roofline to foundation — and make sure each piece hands water off cleanly to the next, so there are no gaps for moisture to exploit. Mr. Elk Exteriors is a building envelope contractor serving Seattle and the Eastside.

How We Do It

Our professional process

  1. 1

    Whole-envelope assessment

We evaluate siding, flashing, gutters, soffit, fascia, and drainage together, then map out every spot where water could get trapped or misdirected.

  2. 2

    Flashing & weather barrier

We install a continuous weather-resistive barrier and integrate flashing at every transition — windows, decks, rooflines — so the layers shed water in the right order.

  3. 3

    Siding & trim

New siding and trim go on over a properly prepared wall, with correct clearances above grade, roofs, and decks.

  4. 4

    Gutters & drainage

Seamless gutters, soffit, and fascia are tied in and sloped to carry water to downspouts that move it away from the foundation — not behind your new siding.

  5. 5

    Ventilation & final check

We balance attic intake and exhaust, then do a final walk to confirm every transition is sealed and draining correctly.
