Siding
Siding done right — down to the studs when it has to be.
Siding is the single biggest thing protecting your home from Pacific Northwest weather. We specialize in James Hardie fiber cement and real cedar — the materials that hold up to our wet winters and keep looking sharp for decades. We don't just hang boards over the old wall; we open it up, fix what's wrong underneath, and build the wall assembly back the way it should have been the first time. Mr. Elk Exteriors is a siding contractor serving Seattle and the Eastside.
How We Do It
Our professional process
- 1
Walk-through & honest assessment
We start at the wall. We check for soft spots, failed flashing, and moisture intrusion, then tell you straight whether you need a full re-side or a targeted repair. No upselling a tear-off you don't need.
- 2
Tear-off & wall inspection
When we pull the old siding, we inspect the sheathing and framing. If we find rot or bad flashing, we show you photos and give you a written change order before any extra work happens.
- 3
Weather barrier & flashing
We install a proper weather-resistive barrier and detail every window, door, and penetration with flashing tape and pan flashing. This is the step most crews rush — it's the step that keeps water out for the next 30 years.
- 4
Siding & trim installation
We hang James Hardie or cedar to manufacturer spec — correct fastening, gapping, and clearances — with a clean trim package around windows, corners, and exterior transitions.
- 5
Finish, caulk & clean-up
Color-matched caulk joints, touch-ups, and a full site clean-up with magnetic nail sweep. We leave your property cleaner than we found it.
